Naked Butt, Naked Tits, Oh, Wherefore Art Thou, Romeo?

Many years ago, back when I was in junior high school, I was in a 7th grade class they called ‘enriched English’. This class was a precursor to the advanced placement (AP) classes that many students are familiar with today, but back then, the AP program was not even a dream yet. The ‘enriched’ class let students who had shown an excellence in certain subjects work at a slightly faster or higher pace or level than the tradition curriculum. If someone was good at math, but sucked at English, they could take an ‘enriched’ math class but a regular English one. Anyway, I was enriched English, which meant we weren’t reading the same books that year that the regular class read. We, lucky, lucky us, were reading Romeo and Juliet. The real one. You know, written in like Olde English or something. Fun!

Our treat for slogging through Shakespeare in our teen years was that when we finished reading it, we could watch the movie… which wasn’t much of a treat, since it had been filmed in 1968 and was dubbed from, I think, Italian, so it wasn’t exactly a fun flick for teens.

With one exception.

There was a nude scene.

The movie was rated PG-13 (though I...

Farah Evers Wins Ariana eBook Cover Award 2013 for Dream Walking

My book, Dream Walking, which is a light supernatural suspense novella, was lucky enough to have a cover made for it by the very talented and gorgeous Farah Evers, through her company Farah Evers Designs. Earlier last year, I was proud that the book was entered into the EPIC Ariana eBook Cover Awards for best cover design in its genre, and we were completely excited (though I can’t say I was surprised, because I know she does good work!) that the cover made it to the finals. I mean, a finalist, wooohoo! But who could have imagined it would actually WIN the award?

Well, I could, or else I wouldn’t have allowed it to be entered into the contest...

I’ve said it many times, so most of you already know, that I am a writer and an editor. Words are my world, my living, and the light that shines on my soul and tells you who I am. I write them, twist them, manipulate them, so that they speak on my behalf. Who I am is written in everything I write.

I am a word master.

No, reelee, I is.

Still, even for a master like me, there are some words and sayings in the English language that baffle me.

Fortunately, words in English baffle other people too, so that’s why I can make a living editing. The more confusing the language is, the better for me!

But seriously, I was sitting in a waiting room early this morning, and you know how you never have anything to do in a waiting room, and the magazines are either non-existent, two years old, or else ...

Breathe, Just Breathe

There is nothing more essential to life than breath. We know a baby is born alive and well when he takes his first breath; we know someone has died when they take their last breath, and then there are all the breaths in between that make up life.

So many times someone would tell me, “Breathe, Michelle…” and I thought it was a silly thing to say. After all, we all know what happens when you stop breathing, right? No one would intentionally choose to stop breathing, would they?

Yet, we do… we forget to breathe, sometimes… and we often do need that gentle reminder to breathe.

Every major event in my life, breath was a part of it – but not just because I WAS breathing, but more because I wasn’t...

Let’s talk about prostitution. While many may consider prostitution to be a ‘woman’ thing, I need to point out here that men can be prostitutes too. Keep that in mind as I ramble here.

First, I have to tell you that I personally feel that prostitution should not be illegal.

Please note, I did not say that prostitution should be legal either. What I believe is that there should be no laws whatsoever that control or limit or regulate how, when, why human beings who are adults and can consent should have sex.

I know many of you will come up with, “But what about the exploitation of women? Pimps, etc?…”
To that, I clearly say to make the ...
