I know all too well men who don’t react well to tears, or any emotion, really. I take that back. Anger. They understand that one, and some even seem to promote it, encourage it. I’ve tried very, very hard not to be that man, and I believe I’ve succeeded. Do my friends make fun of me when I openly admit that I love Enya and romance? Yep. They laugh, that is, until they need someone who will truly bend an ear instead of telling them to ‘man up’ or ‘get over it’. Yes, we need tears. We really do. Nice and powerful. I know that you are as impatient as I am and that you expected to 'instantaneously' pick up your life and resume where you had left off... it didn't work out that way for either of us, but we really will get through all the repercussions! Sometimes I throw things into the blue (recycle) container even if I’m unsure. Can’t hurt, right? I haven’t littered since I was quite young. And I mean not once. If I cannot find a trash can, I put it in my pocket or in the car until I get home. I often worry about the amount of refuse we create. Been to a dump lately? It’ll blow your mind, the size of things. I wonder about dolphins trapped in six-pack plastic and seagulls covered in oil and birds breathing in the shit our cars put out and the sun finally going supernovae. I worry, I do, but will we ever change? Nope. Mankind, the ‘smartest’ creature known, is going to destroy its own planet. Real smart.
